Easy To Make Superhero

Today is National Superhero Day so what better activity than an easy to make Superhero by frugalfun4boys . These days our Superheroes wear a different type of mask and come in guises never really associated with the cape before:

Shop Workers, Bin Men, Delivery Drivers, Teachers, Journalists, Court Staff, Religious Staff, Utilities Staff and of course everyone in the Emergency Services, Care work and NHS. Some wear gowns, some wear high-vis jackets, but they all have one thing in common- they’re saving the nation!!!

So let’s share a Fun Activity to do with children on this special National Superhero Day.

Things You Need

• Pipe cleaners
• Felt, for capes
• Straws – paper straws are best but normal straws work as well
• Googly eyes
• Round beads
• Wooden beads – 3/4 inch diameter
• Glue
• Hot glue
• Scissors
• Markers – Sharpie oil based paint markers (normal Sharpies work as well)

How To Make

Step 1: Draw hair and superhero masks on the wooden beads.

Step 2: Glue on googly eyes –and a little mouth.

Step 3: Twist three pipe cleaners together in the middle.

Step 4: Slide three beads onto BOTH of the bottom two pipe cleaners. This forms the body.

Step 5: Cut a straw into 8 one inch segments. (Or feel free to adjust the size!) On average you get 7 segments out of each straw, so you’ll need two straws per superhero, with excess.

Step 6: Build each limb by sliding on a straw segment, then a bead, then another straw segment.

Step 7: Bend the ends of the pipe cleaners into hands and feet, wrapping some of the excess around the wrist or ankle to make it secure. Then trim off any excess ends.

Step 8: Slide the head onto the final two pipe cleaners and trim off the excess. To make the head more secure, squeeze some glue onto the pipe cleaners, slide the head on. Wipe off the excess with a paper towel.

Step 9: Cut out a cape from felt and use hot glue to attach it to the backs of the arm segments. You can decorate your cape with whatever you want.
