Happy New Year 2021-a Poem by Lizzie Sands
Christmas is over and the end of year’s here
so raise a glass of juice, bubbles or beer.
To memories we made and hurdles we leapt
new friendships we made and old ones we kept
Take time to remember the great times been had
and hug that bit tighter, shed tears for the sad.
Be happy for people who’ve made their star shine
give love and support to those waiting in line.
2020, a year not like any other,
not seeing our friends, father or mother.
Crafting and walking, avoiding the gloom.
Working from home in PJ’s on Zoom.
Clapping on Thursdays, masks on our faces,
washing our hands and keeping those spaces.
Now we’re in Tiers, 2, 3,and 4,
looking like things are as bad as before.
Let’s start the New Year by following the rules,
keep open the pubs, restaurants and schools.
This past year has shown us that people are kind,
there’s stories of strength and love to find.
Let’s pray that good news is coming our way
but for now have a Happy New Years Day!
